Missoula Workshops

Mime (grades 3-12)

Instuctor:  Missoula residents

Actions speak louder than words!  This workshop will equip the students with essential tools for non-verbal expression.  By practicing precise isolations, physical illusions, and deliberate body language, the students will tell compelling stories through the power of movement alone.

Drama Quest: Adventures in the Jungle (grades 1-2)

Instructor:  Missoula residents

A grand adventure though a jungle awaits!  Using active and energetic role-playing in a dynamic group setting, students will develop problem-solving skills by engaging their communication and imagination.

Playwriting (grades 3-12)

Instructor:  Missoula residents

Playwriting- the art that transforms words into worlds. This workshop introduces story-telling concepts that will keep the audience on the edge of their seat!  Students will learn the basics of creative thinking, plot structure, and character development in this dynamic storytelling workshop.

Pop Stars Vocal Group (6-18 yrs old)

Learn to sing a variety of parts and possibly perform around town.

Beginner Oil Painting/Drawing (Ages 13+)
Instructor: Diamond Vigil
A practical introduction to the materials and techniques of oil painting. Learn palette layout, color mixing, methods of paint application, and the selection, handling and clean-up of materials. Investigate issues of color and composition.

Study of the Face

(Ages 9-13)​

Instructor: Laura Bruni
Explore an historical view of portraits from the Renaissance period through today.  Each week, an historical perspective/technique will be presented while working on a portrait of your own.  Create collage, drawings, paintings, illustrations or photography during this in depth study of the face.

Voice training using customized vocal exercises is the key to unlocking your vocal potential and building solid technique. Private voice lesson for kids and adults, beginner to intermediate level tailored to the needs of each individual student.

Wheel Throwing (Ages 18+)

Students will learn the basics of how to throw on the wheel. They will be provided with 25lbs of clay and the use of all Firehouse glazes.

Open Pottery Studio (Age 18+)

Students with prior ceramics experience may sign up for open studio use of the ceramic room. The fee covers use of wheels and glazes. Firing is only done by Firehouse personnel when kiln is full.

Yoga

​

Yoga (Ages 15+)

Instructor: Lindsey Gomez

A breath-centered vinyasa (flow) Hatha yoga class that will calm the mind and rejuvenate the body. The class will include a brief meditation at the beginning and end that will help you become more in-tune with your breath as well as quiet the busy-ness of the mind. Practice will be adapted to suit all levels from beginners to experienced practitioners.

Tue and/or Thur | 6:00-7:00

Tuition: $30/month/1 day a week

  • To register for a class, visit our class registration page

  • Class spots cannot be held until payment is received

  • You must pre-register for all classes

  • DRCA Members receive a 10% discount

  • Classes may cancel due to insufficient enrollment, students will be notified by phone

  • Full refund are given only if class is canceled by the Firehouse. If a student wishes to cancel before the first class day a full refund less 30% will be given.

  • No refund after first class

In order to better serve you and insure the enjoyment and safety of our youngest art patrons,

please be on time to pick-up your child. 
Please let us know if your child has any special needs. All classes are designed to be age appropriate and you will need to contact the Firehouse if you are interested in having your child attend a class outside of his/her age limit. Thank you for your interest as we continue to provide quality art education!
