Oil Painting/Drawing

(Ages 15-Adult)

Are you ready to loosen up and discover a style of your own? You will learn the effective use of color relationships, mass, and values while you paint from a photograph.

Ever admired a beautiful piece of mosaic art and wanted to make one of your own? Find how to by making your own garden stone.

Magic Marker Magic

(Ages 6-12)

Markers offer versality and precision and lend themselves beautifully to techniques such as turning drawings into watercolors.

Mural Creations

Team up in groups to learn how to create wall murals at the Firehouse.

Batik

(Ages 11-Adult)

Learn to create beautiful pieces of art using soy wax, paper, fabric, and dyes.

Clay Hand Building

(All Ages)

Instructor: Sally Anne Finkelstein

In this class you will introduced to many techniques of hand building. Once the student chooses a project, the instructor will assist him with the multiple techniques of construction.

Wheel Throwing

(Ages 16-Adult)

Instructor: Nancy O'Brien

Students will learn the basics of throwing on a wheel. Each person will be provided with 25 lbs. of clay and the use of all Firehouse glazes.

Open Pottery Studio

Students 18 and older with prior ceramics experience may sign-up for open studio use of the ceramics room. The fee covers use of wheels, and glazes. Firing is only done by Firehouse personnel when kiln is full.

Open Drawing Studio

Develop or expand upon your medium of choice in our ballroom. Bring your supplies and use our facility and easels to create your own artwork.

Summer Arts at the Firehouse

(Ages 9-18)

For three hours, three days a week, for three weeks come to the Firehouse for hands on art history, mixed up media, and something from nothing sculpture just to name a few activities.

Photography

 

Black/White Photography & Beginning Darkroom Class

(Ages 15-Adult)

Instructor: Dee Cerda

Students will learn the fundamentals of the Holga camera, its quirks  and subtle nuances. Students will learn the basics of capturing and printing an image. Film developing and review will allow us to evaluate and adjust exposure, fine tuning the camera to obtain the best possible images.

Community Open Darkroom

(Ages 15-Adult)

Instructor: Dee Cerda

This is for students needing extra time to print and practice the photo techniques taught in beginning darkroom, and for photographers wanting a place to print. Green chemicals and some equipment provided; bring your own paper.

Available during regular

Open Hours only

Tuition: $5/hr-1hr min. or

$100 unlimited month

Call at least one day in advance to schedule darkroom time.

18 and older with prior darkroom experience required

or enrollment in darkroom classes

 

Supervised Open Darkroom

(Ages 15-Adult)

No experience necessary. Printing and Chemical preparation.

Chemistry provided; Students should have their own film and paper.

Supplies available at DRCA office.

Piano Lessons

(Ages 7-Adult)

Piano lesson are for both the beginning piano student and those who want to review their skills. Learning to play the piano is great for all ages.

Beginning Guitar Lessons

(Ages 9-15)

These lessons will take you from pure basics such as learning to identify the G string to playing major full chord shapes and reading music.

In this class, the student will get hands-on experience and learn to fundamentals of weaving. Learn to weave an 18"x18" 12 color sampler on a loom.

Weaving a Bag

(Ages 7-Adult)

Students will learn to do a simple weaving on a cardboard box to create a personalized hand-woven functional bag.

Sock Making

(All Ages)

Learn to knit socks on two circular needles. Basic knitting knowledge required.

  • DRCA Members receive a 10% discount
  • Classes may cancel due to insufficient enrollment, students will be notified by phone
  • Full refund are given only if class is cancelled by the Firehouse
  • If a student wishes to cancel before the first class day a full refund less 10% will be given
  • No refunds after first class date
